A Slice of Life
We shifted to this house in March, about six months ago. The second new house in three years. But this felt like home as soon as we saw it for the first time. It had the feel of an old lived in home. Nooks and crannies, niches and odd corners. So much space to use, to design. The kitchen faces East, so first cups of tea are accompanied by sunrises everyday. Out of the same window, I can see the balcony of the building opposite. A tiny space but filled with cherished plants and flower pots. A very young couple would get their early morning cuppas and enjoy a quiet moment before their toddler started his day. That was one adorable child. An energetic boy, he would hop around the terrace touching all the plants in turn, waving at a smiling me. During the lockdown, it seemed a favourite haunt of the family. Morning, noon, evening, the three would be there. Chatting, one of the parents playing with the child while the other was on the phone or worked. The smiles and waves continu...
